Icebreaker

Monday, 8th August 6pm-8pm

Venue: Rainforest Room, Melbourne Zoo

The Icebreaker will take place on the Monday evening prior to the official opening of the conference on the next day. It is a chance to catch-up with friends, meet new people, and make connections over a few drinks and canapés.

Gala Dinner & Fundraiser

Wednesday, 10th August 6:30pm-10pm

Venue: Bong Su, Melbourne Zoo

This is the premier social event of the Conference. We want to create a signature event for our attendees, past and present to relax, unwind and have fun connecting with colleagues and professional partners.

This year we are holding a silent auction with fantastic prizes to raise funds for EAZA's efforts to support zoos and aquariums animal welfare in the Ukraine.

Cost: $110.00 incl. GST

Optional Tours

Werribee Open Range Zoo Tour

Tuesday, 9th August 3pm-9pm

The Conference will end early on Tuesday to allow for a tour to Werribee Open Range Zoo. Hosted by director Dr Mark Pilgrim, you will be welcomed with arrival drinks at Hippo Beach while Mark shares his international and Australian experiences along with the latest Master Plan developments taking place at WORZ. Experience an open savanna tour and hear some stories of the transition to Australia. Finish your evening with some light dinner and entertainment. A night on the savanna is not to be missed in your ZAA Conference 2022.

SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium Tour

Thursday, 11th August 6-8pm

SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium is pleased to welcome you for an evening of interactive ocean adventures filled with amazing discovery around every corner.  Join us for drinks and canapés as our Curatorial team host your journey through our aquarium.  Descend into the mysterious world of jellyfish, surround yourself with massive sharks and rays in our 2.2 million litre oceanarium, and waddle your way to the icy realm of our subAntarctic penguin colonies.  Let us share our passion for conservation with our breeding and recovery programs for endangered spotted hand fish and native wetlands species.

Healesville Sanctuary Tour

Friday, 12th August 8.30am – 4.30pm

Healesville Sanctuary lies within the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people and began its story in 1921 when Dr Colin MacKenzie was granted 70 acres of land to study native fauna for medical research. The Sanctuary was officially opened to the public in 1934 and Zoos Victoria has been looking after the Sanctuary since 1978.
 
This tour is an absolute highlight adventure of your Conference trip. During your leisurely bus trip through the suburbs out to the Yarra Valley, your tour guide will entertain you with stories of greatness with some laughs along the way.
