Kelsey Engle has been involved in the zoo industry since the early 90’s and began at Australia Zoo when it had a mere two employees and covered only four acres. Today Australia Zoo has almost 400 employees and has grown to more than 100 developed acres. It is this unique experience that gives Kelsey an insight into many of the different facets faced in both small and large facilities.
Currently Australia Zoo is the largest privately run zoo in Australia and through this growth Kelsey has personally been involved in the politics associated from an institutional level as well as State and Federal levels. Kelsey has also represented the industry in the Queensland branch of ZAA for more than ten years, currently holding the role of secretary. During the past several years she has also been associated with the ZAA Board and in the last two years has officially been a part of that team.
Kelsey is extremely passionate about conservation and is extremely lucky to have been able to work directly with Steve and Terri Irwin. Their support and influence has provided an extremely strong platform from which Australia Zoo’s conservation based programs have been built and progressed.
As part of the board Kelsey would like to help to promote our region internationally and especially to highlight our combined conservation efforts for both native and inter regional wildlife.
