Savrina joined ZAA in March 2021 as a Threatened Species Assessor with a focus on wildlife impacted by the 2019/2020 bushfires.

Savrina has broad interests in conservation science, sustainability and science outreach. After completing her PhD in Macroecology jointly at the University of Cambridge and the Institute of Zoology in the UK, Savrina enjoyed varied roles as a Programme Officer with the Freshwater Biodiversity Unit at the IUCN Global Species Programme and then as an independent consultant.

Her work and research have focused on understanding the impacts of anthropogenic activities on wildlife populations and projecting future outcomes in order to inform mitigation strategies. Within this framework she has taken a cross-disciplinary approach, using her computer science background to facilitate the investigation of complex spatio-temporal issues.

Savrina also has experience working with industry partners as an Analyst and Developer involved in analysis, design, implementation, test and pilot phases of major strategy and I.T. projects for leading utilities, public sector, telecommunications, manufacturing and financial services companies.

When not working, Savrina chases around two little humans and hopes that they will grow up to share the planet with as many wonderful species as are around today.
