Mammal and Bird Keeper & Leaf Cutter - Part Time
Position Available:  Mammal and Bird Keeper & Leaf Cutting 
Hours per Week: 25 hours per week
Institution: The Australian Reptile Park
Pacific Hwy, Somersby NSW 2250

Reporting to: Head Keeper – Mammals and Birds
Position Purpose: The Reptile Park is looking for an experienced and motivated person to join our Mammal department!

The successful applicant will provide support to the Head of Section - Mammals and Birds including duties such as providing a high standard of husbandry and care of the mammal and bird collection, exhibit maintenance and design, behavioural enrichment programs, customer service, and public presentations. The successful applicant will be a strong team player, with the ability to follow instruction easily and without supervision. Major roles will involve animal care and husbandry of the collection, browse and koala leaf collection, and volunteer development. 

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with some Australia’s most unique animals and cutting edge conservation projects including a variety of Bird species, Platypus, Wombats, Koalas, and be part of one of Australia’s largest Tasmanian Devil breeding facilities.

Essential criteria

Knowledge of Australian native flora (especially Eucalyptus sp.)
Current Manual Class C driver’s license
Ability to work unsupervised 
Physically Fit with an ability to carry out manual handling activities, enthusiastic and hardworking 

Desirable criteria

Operating woodchipper experience 
Previous arboriculture experience 
Tree-pruning experience
