We're looking for a special kind of person to join our Hamilton Zoo team on a full time basis. If you think this could be you, let’s talk.
For this role you must have:
• an understanding of modern zoological best practice
• A tertiary degree in animal behaviour or equivalent
• the ability to work independently
• previous experience in animal husbandry
What's the salary?
The starting salary for this role is $55,000 per annum for a junior keeper and can be negotiated dependant on your experience level.
What will I be part of?
Set in 25 hectares and besides being a tourism and recreation park, Hamilton Zoo has committed to the conservation of animals and the environment by participating in various conservation and research projects, and by contributing to breeding programmes for endangered species.
You will be part of a passionate team, focussed on the care of our animals.
In addition to Zoo Keeping responsibilities you will also assist in keeping our grounds clean and tidy, through path blowing, garden maintenance etc.
This job is for you if:
• You enjoy working as part of a team, but with the ability to work independently
• Are available to work on a 7 day a week roster, to care for our animals
• Have the stamina to meet a variety of mentally and physically demanding challenges
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate with your team members.
