Hunter Valley Wildlife Park

Hunter Valley Wildlife Park is a privately-owned Wildlife Park which is located just two hours from Sydney in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales. We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced zookeeper to join our hard-working Animal Care team. 

Hunter Valley Wildlife Park is home to a large collection of both native and exotic animals with this role providing care to a number of species including, but not limited to: Zebra, Giraffe, Camels, Barbary sheep, Blackbuck, Meerkats, Brush-tailed Rock Wallaby and lions.

The successful applicant will have previous experience working with exotic animals including a sound knowledge of ungulate husbandry and behaviour. They will be required to provide a high level of animal husbandry care, have experience with training and conditioning, a passion for enrichment, good presentation skills and experience with record keeping systems. This position requires flexibility, as we are a small park, keepers may be required to work across multiple sections.

- Minimum of three years’ experience working with ungulates and large carnivores within a captive facility.
- Ability to be flexible and work within a small team
- Animal husbandry knowledge; with experience working with a range of taxa
- Capture and handling experience 
- Great work ethic
- Excellent customer service skills
- Basic maintenance skills
- Problem solving skills
- Cert 3 in captive animal management or equivalent  
- Valid manual driver’s license
- Be an Australian resident; or have a permit to work within Australia

The position may require the successful applicant to work weekends and public holidays with days off during the week.
