Food Preparation and Off display holding Full Time Keeper Position

Hunter Valley Wildlife Park is a privately-owned Wildlife Park which is located just two hours from Sydney in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales. We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced zookeeper to join our hard-working Animal Care team. This position requires flexibility, as we are a small park, keepers may be required to work across multiple sections.

Hunter Valley Wildlife Park is home to a large collection of both native and exotic animals including Koalas, Tasmanian Devil, Lions, Giraffe, Binturong, Meerkats, Capybara, and a unique bird collection.

The Role:
The successful applicant will need to coordinate our busy food preparation area; prepare diets, organise orders and stock rotation and provide excellent husbandry to a range of species in off display holding enclosures. They should be self-motivated, with a high standard of cleanliness, the ability to work within timeframes, show initiative and follow company policies and procedures. This role also involves a range of meat preparation.

Criteria:
- Minimum of two years’ experience working in the animal care industry
- Ability to be flexible and work within a small team
- Animal husbandry knowledge; with experience working with a range of taxa
- Capture and handling experience 
- Cert 3 in captive animal management or equivalent  
- Food preparation experience 
- Stock rotation experience
- Great work ethic
- Excellent customer service and presentation skills
- Problem solving skills  
- Valid driver’s license
- Be an Australian resident; or have a permit to work within Australia

The position may require the successful applicant to work weekends and public holidays with days off during the week.
