About the Role

Our keepers connect guests with sea life through creating and maintaining engaging world-class displays, delivering memorable guest experiences and ensuring best-practice animal welfare. This role works within the team that cares for our Dugong and therefore marine mammal training experience is highly desired.

 

About You

Essential:

  • Minimum  years experience working in a zoo and/or aquarium setting, ideally in a role focused in animal behaviour and training (marine mammal experience is highly desired).
  • Tertiary qualifications in animal care and/or marine biology.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with a high level of confidence in public speaking.
  • Be guest obsessed demonstrating a passion for guest experience, education and connecting people with wildlife, sustainability and conservation.
  • Experience in training trainee keepers and volunteers/students in a zoo and/or aquarium setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, cope with frequent and unpredictable changes to daily routine and workloads, and to work, at times under high pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work unsupervised, assess tasks and set priorities for self.
  • Current (or willingness to obtain at own expense) NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Full NSW Driver’s License.
  • Current First Aid / CPR / Oxygen Administration.
  • ADAS Occupation SCUBA Part 1 or Aquarium Diver (desired).
