Working at our ZAA and Eco Tourism accredited Wildlife Park in the stunning area of Port Stephens, NSW! Is pretty awesome. We are looking for a full-time team player who strives for the best and who is ambitious, a driven individual with a knowledge and experience in leaf identification and food preparation and/or animal nutrition to help manage and develop our ever-growing species-specific cuisine requirements.
Our food preparation and leaf cutting team are responsible for looking after over 100 species diets and cutting leaf/browse for our resident Koalas, Lumholtz Tree Kangaroos, and other native animals. We strive to cut leaf and prepare diets in a WH&S friendly environment, while having fun, working hard as part of a dynamic team.
A successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to work in a high-performance environment, with a capacity to deliver all requirements of the role, great work ethic and the ability to work to a high standard independently and within a team.

Key Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Browse and leaf collection as required.
• Operation and general maintenance of machinery associated with browse collection.
• Responsible for ordering and collection of animal feed.
• Report on feed stock levels and any maintenance issues.
• Maintain records. Keeping a well-informed dietary diary for specific animal species.
• Conduct environment and safety checks where appropriate. (Refrigeration temps etc.)
• Report and communicate with Supervisor/s and keepers.
• Maintain correct cleaning procedures.
• Maintain relevant vehicles and equipment.
• Provide a high standard of customer service.

Essential Criteria
• Available to work weekdays, public holidays, NSW school holidays and some weekends.
• Excellent personal presentation and a high level of communication skills.
• Satisfactory and suitable level of fitness and wellbeing to safely perform the duties.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Self-motivated and have a positive attitude.
• Ability to work well as a team and unsupervised.
• Ability to engage with members of the public offsite and guests within the park.
• Experience operating machinery, such as 4WD’s, pole saws/chainsaws.
• Hold current Manual Driver’s Licence.
• Exceptional Leaf identification.

Desirable but not essential
• Current 1st Aid Qualifications.
• Previous experience in a similar position.
• Forklift Ticket
• Working with children’s check
• Any other relevant certificates/licenses.
