Priam Psittaculture Centre Research & Breeding (PPC R&B)

PPC R&B is a research and breeding facility focusing on threatened and critically endangered species, in particular Parrots and small native mammals.

The facility is located near Bungendore NSW (30 min from Canberra) and is not open to the general public.

PPC R&B is currently undergoing an expansion of its facilities, with the establishment of new conservation projects and is seeking an experienced keeper who is passionate about pursuing a career in the field of conservation through captive animal management. The individual must have a positive mature attitude and is able to perform well in a fast-paced environment. The role will include general daily husbandry to a high standard, for both exotic and native species.  

Essential criteria:

  • Certificate III in Captive Animals/Bachelor degree in the field of Science or Biology/equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years employment in a keeping or animal husbandry role.
  • Capable of lifting up to 15kg.
  • Possess a high level of fitness and able to walk for long periods at a fast pace.
  • Willing to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Flexible to work weekends, public holidays and outside of normal hours if required.
  • Capable of working independently.  
  • Current Driver’s License and own vehicle


  • Avicultural experience
  • Self-motivated with an interest in parrot conservation.
