Do you have a passion for conservation and animal welfare?
Ngāi Tahu Tourism is one of the largest tourism operators in Aotearoa and we are seeking an Assistant Wildlife Manager to manage the health and wellbeing of our native wildlife (excluding kiwi) as well as leading our dedicated Wildlife team when the park reopens.
Currently our park remains in hibernation due to the pandemic however, we envisage the ideal candidate utilising this time to revitalise our visitor experience and assisting driving the re-launch of the park when appropriate.
Does the opportunity to build upon the framework of our 80-year history and develop our existing breed for release, education, and advocacy programs to deliver greater conservation outcomes inspire you?
If so, this hands-on, permanent full-time, role based in Rotorua could be for you!
Set in 22 acres of beautiful native trees and streams, Rainbow Springs is home to a variety of New Zealand's most precious inhabitants, including a variety of native birds, native reptiles, and trout.
Our nature park also features a kiwi hatchery and rearing facility - the country's largest and most successful kiwi conservation centre.
We take great pride in warmly welcoming manuhiri (visitors) to our experiences. Manaakitanga (hospitality) is one of the core values that drives the way we do business. As hosts, we care for our customers and our team as our own whānau.
A little bit about you
We are seeking an individual who:
- Has previous experience and knowledge of avian and reptile health
- Enjoys participating and collaborating with other team members
- Keeps cool under pressure
- Anything could happen in a day - and we need someone who isn't afraid of a long and varied to-do list!
If "Kia ora and welcome to Rainbow Springs" rolls off your tongue, get in touch!
The successful applicant will have an affinity for the needs and aspirations of our ultimate stakeholders, Ngāi Tahu whānui. Alongside this, they will have an understanding of, or an eagerness to learn and engage with our Ngāi Tahu values and te reo Māori. Ka tika!
Rainbow Springs is a fun, unique and safe place to work and we'd like to keep it that way. Before starting with us, you'll go through a range of checks, including drug and alcohol testing. Health and safety is super important and this is part of how we keep you, our team and our customers safe.
Confidential enquiries can be made directly to Emma Bean on 021 0240 3834.
