Do you have a passion for animals and enjoy working in a fun environment? We're on the hunt for two Wildlife Keepers to work with us until the end of June who will assist with providing exceptional care for all our precious inhabitants. This role will be responsible for the welfare, care and protection of our animal species who reside at Rainbow Springs. You'll also be involved in hosting manuhiri on a range of tours and provide interactive keeper talks, so if this sounds like the opportunity you've been waiting for then read on!

Set in 22 acres of beautiful native trees and streams, Rainbow Springs is home to a variety of species native to Aotearoa, including kiwi, tuatara and native birds.

Manuhiri (visitors) are able to enjoy the adrenalin rush of, explore free flight aviaries, come face-to-face with tuatara, talk to Jenny the hand-reared kea, and feed large wild trout  Our nature park also features a kiwi hatchery and rearing facility - the country's largest and most successful kiwi conservation centre.

A little bit about you

We're after someone who:

  • Can impress our manuhiri (visitors)
  • Has a passion for animal health and welfare
  • Has a basic knowledge of avian and reptile husbandry
  • Works well in a team
  • Keeps cool under pressure
  • Can work shifts on weekdays, weekends and public holidays
  • Is eager to learn and correctly pronounce reo Māori names and terms
  • Is eager to learn about Ngāi Tahu culture and stories

Anything could happen in a day - and we need someone who isn't afraid of a long and varied to-do list!
