We have an exciting opportunity to join our Curatorial Displays team as a Veterinary Technician! 

About the Role

This role is responsible for assisting the Displays team and our veterinarian with the day to day running of the aquarium’s animal health requirements. You will have the chance to not only assist with the care of these amazing animals, but also to promote education and conservation through providing a unique experience for our visitors.

This position involves working a Full-Time roster and may include work on weekends and public holidays.

About You

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing
  • An understanding of animal husbandry and  animal behaviour principles
  • Experience in identification of animal health issues and their treatment
  • Excellent observation and record keeping skills, verbal and written communication skills, organisational and decision making skills
  • Computer skills using MS Office
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable including making the most of a challenging or unfamiliar environment, the ability to act with urgency and respond positively to situations.
  • Ability to problem solve, including understanding the issues, the cause of the issues and making sound decisions to ensure the issues are resolved.
  • Ability to work well in a team and share knowledge
  • Participate and lead animal health training
  • Good knowledge of zoo veterinary legislation and health and safety
  • Current Australian working rights
  • Current Manual Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to bend/Stoop; Squat; Crawl; Crouch; Kneel; Balance; Climb Heights (4m); Carry and Lift up to 30kg



  •  Aquarium Industry experience, animal health, water quality life support systems and husbandry
  • Bachelor degree in biology, zoology, marine science or related field
  • First Aid and/ or Oxygen Resuscitation training
  • Ability to work a flexible weekly schedule including weekend work and a combination of day, evening and over night shifts where necessary.
  • Divemaster or equivalent desirable
