Willowbank Wildlife Reserve

Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is a busy tourist and local destination in Christchurch for viewing a mixture of wildlife, native species, farm stock, and exotic / zoo animals.

A rare and unique position has come available as Keeper in our Native area.  This section is home to one of the most comprehensive displays of New Zealand native species, many of which are part of managed species programmes for breeding.  

This position is full time with 5 shifts from 8am-4.30pm and requires work on one weekend day per week. 

As well as animal husbandry, enrichment and  record keeping, the role also consists of public speaking with tours and encounters.  Staff also oversee students and volunteers in their section.  

Criteria for application:  
* Minimum of 5 years full time work with New Zealand native species, but ideally more than 10 years.  
*Proven experience with native species breeding programmes.
*The ability to work independently, and build relationships with others.
*Fit and healthy as this is an active role.
*Seeks a high standard of work.
*Excellent work ethic.
