TRANSPORTATION

 

To help you plan your travel in Sydney, ZAA has created a comprehensive list of travel options from the airport and to all the conference venues.

 

AIRPORT

By Car- Sydney Airport is located 8 km from the Sydney CBD and takes 25 minutes on average. There are several rental car companies located at both Domestic and International Airports such as Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Budget, Thrifty and Enterprise. Alternatively, you can hire a taxi or rideshare service. You can find signs to taxi ranks in front of all the terminals. For rideshare services, arrange with your driver to meet you at the priority pick-up area.

By Train - It takes 13 minutes by train to reach Sydney Central station. Train T8 is a fast and convenient way to reach the city, with trains running approximately every 10 minutes. Simply follow the signs from either of the airports to the train station.

Opal Card - Please note that to travel on any of the New South Wales public transports including, trains, buses, and ferries, you need an Opal Card which is available at train stations or you can tap on and tap off with your Amex, Visa or Mastercard. SYDNEY MASONIC CENTRE (Conference Venue)

 

    

 

 The main conference will take place from Tuesday, 6th August to Thursday, 8th August at Sydney Masonic Centre, 66 Goulburn Street, Sydney. The venue is located in the heart of Sydney CBD and can be easily travelled to in several ways.

By Car - The Sydney Masonic Centre (SMC) is a short 10 minutes drive from the Central Train Station. Paid parking is available on Goulburn Street and opposite the centre. Book your spot ahead to get the best prices.

By Train - The closest station is Museum Station just 300 metres or 3 minute walk. Then, the Central Station is 700 metres away or 7 minute walk. To walk from the Museum Station, follow the exit signs for Castlereagh Street.

By Bus - There are several bus stops located at a short 2 minute walk. Buses take you to major landmarks such as Martin Place, Circular Quay, Kings Cross, Coogee Beach, and Maroubra Beach.

By Light Rail - Another fast and convenient option is the Light Rail on George Street providing easy access to SMC.

 

 

TARONGA ZOO (Icebreaker Venue)

By Car - Taronga Zoo is situated in Mosman, north of Sydney CBD at 13 km distance. On average it takes 30 minutes to reach the zoo from the CBD. There is paid parking ($22 a day) available or free if you exit within 90 minutes. Alternatively, there are lots of free street parking around the zoo.

By Ferry - Taronga Zoo is 12 minutes from Circular Quay by ferry. Ferry services depart every 30 minutes. Guests can enter the Zoo through the iconic heritage gates at the Main Entrance at the top of the zoo, or the Lower Zoo Entrance which is a 3-minute walk from the Taronga Zoo ferry wharf. Buses connect the Lower Zoo to the main entrance.

By Bus - Bus number 100 (Mosman to City) operates between Taronga Zoo and Queen Victoria Building in the city from early morning until around midnight, throughout the week. Buses run every 10 minutes or every 20 minutes in the early morning and late at night. The 238 bus travels between Balmoral Beah and Taronga Zoo main entrance and the Taronga ferry wharf.

 

 

SYDNEY ZOO (Zoo Trip Venue)

Sydney Zoo will be providing transport from and to the zoo for the Zoo trip. If you wish to reach on your own there are a few options below:

By Car - Sydney Zoo is located 40 minutes from CBD and accessible via M4 and M7. Free parking is available onsite.

By Public Transport - The closest train station is Blacktown station. From the station you can take bus 729, 723, or 724 from Stand E or Stand F.  These buses travel to the Zoo every 15-30 minutes and drop you off 5-7 minutes walk away.

 

 

SEA LIFE AQUARIUM SYDNEY (Gala Event Venue)

By Car - There is no parking available onsite, but there are several paid parking options near the Aquarium. To learn more about how to get discounts on parking options here.

By Train - It is situated at a 10-minute walk from Wynyard Station and 14-minute walk away from Town Hall Station. Head for King Street from Wynyard or Market Street from Town Hall and then walk down the hill towards Darling Harbour.

By Ferry - Ferry services to Darling Harbour depart from Circular Quay Wharf 5 every half an hour. Check the timetables for full schedule on Transport NSW website.

By Light Rail - Deboard at either Convention Centre or Pyrmont Bay Stations and walk for 12-minute walk from both the stations.
