Zoo and aquarium ethics

We want to see ZAA and its member zoos and aquariums be role models for the wildlife sector globally by running contemporary ethical operations with the confidence and support of the community.

So, to help support our membership with sound ethical decision-making, we established the ZAA Ethics Committee, which is made up of a diverse variety of relevant experts both from within the membership and from external organisations. With application of ethical thinking and using the ZAA Ethical Framework, this Committee provides recommendations to the ZAA Board to manage Association risk and disseminate sound ethical guidance and decisions to our committees and members.
