Dreamworld is one of the largest native wildlife parks in Southeast Queensland with 100’s of native animals including one of the largest koala populations. A fantastic opportunity exists for a highly experienced senior wildlife officer to oversee and assist in caring for and maintaining our captive mammal collection, including Tasmanian Devils and Bilbies.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide the highest standard of animal care for a selection of our mammal collection, while maintaining their enclosures and exhibits. Some of the things you will be responsible for are:
• Feeding, cleaning, breeding, record keeping and treatments
• Preparation of procedures and reports
• Conducting risk assessments and general safety management
• Guest interaction, including assisting with wildlife talks, presentations and management of feedback
• Liaising with external partners and affiliations
• Support Management in the leadership of the Wildlife team
• Assisting with public relations and marketing promotional activities

This is a physically demanding role that involves animal husbandry tasks and manual handling, therefore the ability to perform physically demanding work is essential. Sound written and verbal communication skills are essential as interaction with a diverse range of people from differing cultures is involved, and report writing, and record keeping is a requirement of the role. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge and extensive experience working with Australian native fauna, specifically mammals, along with the ability to share this knowledge and train, mentor and develop fellow team members. Animal husbandry qualifications or progressive study towards a Certificate in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care would be preferred. Leadership experience is desirable. Flexibility with working hours across a 7 day roster is essential, as weekend work will be involved. A current manual drivers license is also required.
