ABOUT THE ROLE...

Zoos SA is looking for experienced, motivated and enthusiastic veterinarians to apply for casual Veterinary positions at Adelaide and Monarto Safari Park, working across a 7-day roster.
 

The successful applicant will deliver clinical veterinary support to the Zoos SA animal collections, their clients and urban wildlife.

You will be motivated and organised, have great time management skills, and contribute meaningfully to our shared goals. 

As part of our Life Sciences team, your range of daily duties will include:

  • To ensure best practice in caring for animals living in Zoos SA.
  • Seek and undertake case reviews in chronic, high profile or difficult cases
  • Integrate veterinary care and animal management for the best health outcomes.
  • Provide advice on capture, restraint and transport practices.
  • Develop case-based isolation and quarantine protocols with the vet team.
  • Undertake approved investigations and research, including funding, written method, ethics, permits and reporting/publication.
  • Provide veterinary skills to field projects

ABOUT YOU...

To be considered for these positions, you will need to meet the following selection criteria:

  • A veterinary degree able to be registered in South Australia
  • Certificate III in Captive Animal Management is desirable and will be regarded favourably.
  • Ability to work under pressure with demanding priorities.
  • You must be willing to undertake vaccinations, including rabies, tetanus, hep c and q fever.
  • Experience working with exotic/native animals is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Workplace Health & Safety principles and processes.
  • The ability to work over a 7-day roster, including public holidays.
  • Some after-hours work may be required so flexibility is essential.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills with peers, volunteers and visitors with an emphasis on listening ability, objective self-reflection, proactive response and team spirit.
